DON’T Panic!!! – Baby doses of botulinum toxin is not an aesthetic treatment for babies!!!
Everybody has heard of botulinum toxin. It is a beauty treatment used for eliminating the appearance of wrinkles that has been around for nearly twenty years.
This treatment involves the injection of botulinum toxin into specific areas of the face in order to smooth out wrinkles and frown lines, and to give the appearance of fresher and more youthful looking skin. There is also evidence that the early use of these injections can help to prevent wrinkles in the future.
The downside of standard botulinum treatments however, is that sometimes the results may not be as planned, and the patient can end up with a frozen unnatural look. Just think back to the ‘Trout Pout’.
This is essentially the same as the standard botulinum toxin treatments, except that smaller doses of injectable material are used and are very much more targeted.
‘Baby doses of botulinum toxin’ is aimed at people in their 20’s and 30’s and is not designed to eliminate wrinkles altogether, but more to smooth the skin and soften the appearance. Due to the smaller doses of botulinum toxin used, your face will not look frozen or unnaturally smooth.
The reduced size of the doses makes this treatment especially suitable for younger people, as they generally only have fine to moderate lines. Anyone with deep set wrinkles will gain more benefit, and better results from the standard botulinum treatment.
One thing that you should keep in mind is that ‘Baby doses of botulinum toxin’ will not last as long as regular botulinum toxin treatments due to the smaller amounts of material used.
These anti-wrinkle injections work by blocking the nerve impulses to the muscles of your face that over time cause wrinkles and permanent lines to form. These muscles will gradually relax, giving your face a smoother look.
Which areas are suitable for treatment?
Before any treatment you will have a full consultation with one of our qualified medical professionals. They will discuss your suitability for this type of treatment and then tailor a personal plan and goal for you.
The treatment should take around fifteen minutes. After a local anaesthetic is applied to the injection sites, small quantities of the serum are injected.
Most people are suited to this treatment unless they have suffered from muscle problems, nerve damage or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Any side effects are injection related and include:
In order to avoid swelling or bruising the aftercare instructions should be followed closely:
