What is the treatment for a gummy smile?
Botox injections are the non-surgical cosmetic answer to treating a gummy smile. Botox is a protein produced in laboratories that has been used in cosmetic and aesthetic contexts since the 1990’s.
Is this gummy smile treatment safe?
Due to the low concentration of the Botulinum toxin used in this treatment it is very safe.
How do the gummy smile injections work?
As a gummy smile can be caused by a hyperactive lip muscle, the Botox injection is used to block the nerve impulse to that muscle. The hyperactive muscle will be weakened, resulting in less lip elevation and less gum showing when you smile.
What areas are treated?
The hyperactive muscle that is causing your gummy smile is the area that will be treated.
How does the gummy smile treatment take place?
Before any treatment, you will have a full consultation with one of our highly qualified, friendly doctors. They will discuss your suitability for the Botox treatment and devise a customised plan for you.
The treatment takes about 15 minutes. Local anaesthetic is applied to the injections sites on each side of the upper lip and then small quantities of the Botox serum are injected.
Who is this treatment suitable for?
