Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the sweat glands produce excessive quantities of sweat. For those who suffer from hyperhidrosis on your face, this can be embarrassing as it’s such a visible area. Our treatment, involving Botulinum toxin injections, could be the answer you have been looking for.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before any treatment, you will have a full consultation with one of our personable and highly skilled medical practitioners. They will discuss your suitability for the hyperhidrosis treatment and devise a personal treatment plan for you. Taking around 15 minutes, a local anaesthetic is applied to the injection sites before small quantities of the Botulinum toxin serum are injected.
This treatment should be avoided by anyone with muscle problems, nerve damage, or who is pregnant or breastfeeding.
Hyperhidrosis can occur in a number of areas on the body, including your face and the crown of your head. Producing a lot of noticeable sweat can be a source of much embarrassment and self-consciousness, but it can be easily treated using Botulinum toxin injections – a treatment more commonly used for anti-ageing. Botulinum toxin injections are placed just under the skin and block the release of acetylcholine, which is the chemical that stimulates the sweat glands.
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR A HYPERHIDROSIS?
Botulinum toxin is the non-surgical cosmetic answer to treating hyperhidrosis. Botulinum toxin is a protein produced in laboratories that has been used in cosmetic and aesthetic contexts since the 1990s.
IS THE HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT SAFE?
Due to the low concentration of the Botulinum toxin used, this is considered a very safe treatment for hyperhidrosis.
HOW DO HYPERHIDROSIS INJECTIONS WORK?
Botulinum toxin injections, more commonly used as an anti-wrinkle treatment, are placed just under the skin and block the release of acetylcholine, which is the chemical that stimulates the sweat glands. This inhibits the amount of sweat produced.
The effects of the Botulinum toxin treatment will last for about 4-12 months.
The side effects are minimal and temporary. The most common injection-related reactions are:
These generally resolve within 2-7 days. If you suffer from cold sores, this treatment may trigger an outbreak
To avoid swelling and bruising:
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or Advil for two days after treatment, OR for one week prior to treatment
- Ice the swollen area
- Do not rub or massage your face for four hours after treatment – this will spread the injected material to other muscles in your face
- Avoid exercise, apart from walking, for 24 hours after treatment.
